The role & about the client:
On behalf of our client, ITS Building People are searching for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well respected, dynamic and forward-thinking Main Contractor based in the South Coast. Due to sustained and continuous growth as well as an order book stretching well past 2026 they are looking to add to their commercial team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Full commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Procurement of subcontract packages and management of supply chain performance
- Managing valuations, variations, forecasting and cost reporting
- Ensuring financial compliance in line with company processes and contract terms
- Working with operational teams to drive commercial performance and protect project margins
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
The ideal candidate:
- Experience as a QS for a main contractor
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
- Confident managing your own projects and workload
- Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills
- Able to produce accurate reports, forecasts and financial documentation
Essential Qualifications/ experience required/ specific requirements for the role:
- Minimum 4–5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a UK main contractor
- Proven commercial management of projects valued £2m–£10m
- Experience managing procurement, subcontractor packages and cost reporting
- Capable of independently running your own schemes with minimal supervision
- Strong financial acumen and attention to detail
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar construction-related discipline (HNC/HND considered with strong experience)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems
- Excellent negotiation, communication and client-facing skills
- Full UK driving licence
