The Role & About the Client
ITS Building People are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator on behalf of a well-established construction contractor based in Poole. The company delivers a range of new build and refurbishment projects across the South, working across a variety of sectors and procurement routes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join an established Pre-Construction Team, taking responsibility for pricing enquiries and preparing detailed and competitive tender submissions. The successful candidate will be based fully onsite at the company's Poole office, working closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and wider estimating team.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Processing pricing enquiries from smaller works through to projects valued up to £10 million.
- Preparing detailed and accurate estimates and ensuring tenders are returned on time and at the right price.
- Working alongside the Pre-Construction Manager and wider estimating team to ensure complete tender returns.
- Using Causeway estimating software to produce detailed estimates.
- Visiting potential clients and carrying out site surveys where required.
- Producing priced schedules and clear documentation for successful projects.
- Understanding client requirements and site restrictions when carrying out surveys and visits.
- Presenting tender bids for adjudication.
- Producing RFIs from tender information for clients and professional teams.
- Reviewing and interpreting 2D and 3D drawings.
- Applying relevant measurement standards including SMM7 and NRM.
- Managing multiple tenders and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Working collaboratively with the wider pre-construction and commercial teams.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry.
- Experience pricing construction projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
- Experience working across a range of project values and types.
- Good working knowledge of Causeway estimating software, desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and pricing.
- Good working knowledge of SMM7 and NRM.
- Ability to understand and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
- HNC or above in a construction-related discipline is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Dynamic, innovative and able to work on own initiative.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar programmes would be desirable.
