The role & about the client:

ITS (Construction Professionals South) are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 main contractor that specialises in delivering technically complex projects across the Data Centre, Mission Critical, Defence and Infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of a major new-build data centre project in West London.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced construction leader to take full responsibility for a flagship project, overseeing every aspect of delivery from programme and commercial performance through to client relationships, quality and operational excellence. You'll be joining a business renowned for delivering complex projects to the highest standards whilst investing heavily in its people and long-term career development.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the overall delivery of a major construction project from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring programme, quality, commercial and safety objectives are achieved.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
  • Drive project performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Oversee design, procurement and construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective planning, sequencing and coordination of all site operations.
  • Monitor commercial performance alongside the commercial team, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular progress reporting to senior management.
  • Promote best practice across health & safety, quality assurance and operational delivery.
  • Mentor and develop project teams, creating a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Ensure all project documentation, reporting and governance requirements are maintained throughout delivery.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager delivering large-scale construction projects.
  • Tier 1 Main Contractor experience on projects valued in excess of £50 million.
  • Strong understanding of Design & Build project delivery.
  • Excellent knowledge of MEP coordination within technically complex buildings.
  • Good understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Commercially aware with experience working closely alongside Quantity Surveying teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and client-facing abilities.
  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional membership with CIOB, ICE, RICS or similar is advantageous.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
