The role & about the client:

ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and residential groundwork contractor for an experienced Quantity Surveyor & Estimator to join their growing commercial team based at their Head Office in the New Forest, Hampshire.

Our client has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, cost-effective civil engineering and residential infrastructure projects across the South. Employing over 400 skilled personnel, they operate across a diverse portfolio ranging from large-scale bulk earthworks through to complex civil engineering structures.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor & Estimator who can play a key role in supporting project delivery and maintaining the company's exceptional standards. Working alongside experienced leadership and established project teams, you will gain exposure to a variety of residential groundwork and civil engineering projects while contributing to the commercial success of the business.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all surveying and estimating queries across projects.
  • Ensure contractual obligations and responsibilities are understood and managed effectively.
  • Assist in the preparation, submission, and agreement of tenders and contract submissions.
  • Support the preparation and agreement of project variations, claims, and design changes.
  • Produce project forecasts, budgets, and cost plans.
  • Prepare accurate commercial reports demonstrating project profitability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, systems, and commercial deadlines.
  • Work closely with procurement and site management teams to maximise project outcomes.
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for improved commercial performance.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying within UK residential groundworks projects.
  • Strong numerical, commercial, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam or similar construction software.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, cost control, and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced project environment.
