ITS Building People are currently recruiting for an experienced Foreman on behalf of a well-established groundworks contractor delivering civil engineering, highways and residential infrastructure works in West Sussex, near Ford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Foreman to join a respected contractor, overseeing day-to-day groundworks and associated civil engineering activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, quality and health & safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Supervising day-to-day site operations across groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Managing site operatives, subcontractors and plant to ensure works are completed safely and on programme.
  • Overseeing general groundworks, earthworks and drainage.
  • Supervising Section 278 (S278) highway works in accordance with project specifications and local authority requirements.
  • Overseeing highways and highway maintenance works.
  • Coordinating labour, materials and plant to maximise productivity on site.
  • Ensuring all works are completed to the required quality standards and project specifications.
  • Carrying out daily site inspections and promoting a strong health and safety culture.
  • Liaising with Site Managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Monitoring progress and addressing on-site issues in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the successful completion of works within programme timescales.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working as a Foreman within groundworks, civil engineering, highways or residential infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of general groundworks, earthworks and drainage.
  • Experience supervising Section 278 (S278) works.
  • Experience with highways and highway maintenance.
  • Ability to lead site teams and coordinate multiple work activities.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS Certificate – essential.
  • CSCS Card – essential.
  • First Aid – essential/desirable.
  • CPCS – any category desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
