The role & about the client: ITS (Construction Professionals South) are recruiting on behalf of an independent, growing property and construction consultancy with an established reputation across both the public and private sectors. The consultancy provides a broad range of professional services including Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Project Monitoring and Dispute Resolution, working with a diverse client base including private individuals, financial institutions, private equity funds, solicitors, and trusts. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director – Building Surveyor to join their team, based out of their central London office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor to work across a varied portfolio of prime and super-prime residential and commercial property, predominantly throughout London and the Home Counties. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Bank Monitoring Surveyors and Expert Witness professionals, providing exposure to a broad range of technically interesting projects and professional surveying services.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake building and measured surveys across residential and commercial properties.
  • Prepare detailed Schedules of Condition and Party Wall Awards.
  • Undertake dilapidation surveys and prepare Scott Schedules.
  • Carry out defect diagnosis and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Prepare specifications and tender documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of building contracts.
  • Act as Contract Administrator on projects where required.
  • Chair project progress meetings and produce minutes and progress reports.
  • Prepare Licences to Alter.
  • Support project and client teams with technical surveying advice.
  • Assist with Expert Witness instructions and the preparation of CPR35 reports.
  • Support new business activity, including preparing bids, fee proposals and quotations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and other professional advisers.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Monitoring and Dispute Resolution teams.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • RICS-accredited Degree in Building Surveying or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • MRICS qualified.
  • Proven experience within Building Surveying across residential and/or commercial property.
  • Experience working with prime or super-prime residential properties would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge across building pathology, defects, specifications and surveying.
  • Experience producing Schedules of Condition, Party Wall Awards and dilapidation reports.
  • Experience with Contract Administration and tender documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management abilities.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering a quality service.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Commercially aware with an interest in supporting business development and winning new instructions.
