Bid Writer – Construction (Main Contracting & Residential) 📍 Location: Worcestershire 🕒 Full Time Permanent 💼 Sector: Construction – Main Contracting & Residential The Opportunity We are looking for a proactive and skilled Bid Writer to join our growing pre-construction team. This is a key role in supporting tendering activity across both main contracting and residential construction projects. You’ll be responsible for developing high-quality bid submissions that help secure new contracts and expand our project pipeline. This position suits someone with strong writing skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience working within the construction sector—particularly across residential schemes and general contracting projects. Key Responsibilities * Manage the end-to-end bid process for PQQs, tenders, and expressions of interest across both main contracting and residential developments. * Write, edit, and proofread compelling content that addresses client requirements and evaluation criteria. * Translate technical input from various departments (estimating, planning, commercial, design, delivery) into clear, persuasive written responses. * Interpret tender documentation and coordinate inputs using structured bid plans and submission matrices. * Lead and facilitate bid meetings, including kick-offs, progress reviews, and final submission reviews. * Ensure submissions reflect the company’s capabilities, experience, and value propositions in both residential and wider construction markets. * Develop supporting materials, including CVs, case studies, and project profiles tailored to each opportunity. * Maintain and update bid libraries and internal resources, including compliance documents, evidence catalogues, and portal login records. * Monitor tender portals, identify new opportunities, and manage submission timelines and communication where required. * Support the renewal of key accreditations such as Constructionline, CHAS, and other industry-specific certifications. * Contribute to continuous improvement of bid content, team processes, and strategy. What You’ll Need * Previous experience in a Bid Writer role within the construction industry, ideally covering both main contracting and residential sectors. * Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor responses to a range of clients and project types. * Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines. * Confidence in working with technical teams and senior stakeholders to gather accurate information. * A good understanding of construction terminology, procurement processes, and frameworks. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience using design software (e.g., InDesign) is beneficial but not essential.
