The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking main contractor with exciting growth plans across both the private and public sectors. They are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Wolverhampton Head Office, supporting the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects. The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation and management of project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts
- Supporting the monitoring of project costs, risks, and opportunities
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, and payment applications
- Supporting tender preparation and commercial negotiations
- Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, and Clients on commercial matters
- Assisting in the production of regular financial and cost reports
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, and commercial best practice
About You
- Experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or in a similar commercial role within main contracting
- Exposure to construction projects across private and/or public sectors
- Understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and commercial management
- Experience supporting procurement and subcontractor management
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Relevant construction or commercial qualification (or working towards one)
