The Opportunity
We are working on behalf of an established and successful construction company based in Hereford, who are looking to appoint an organised and detail-focused Bid Writer to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who is looking to develop their career within the construction and bid-writing environment, or for someone who already has experience preparing tenders and bids within the construction sector.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident working with information and documents, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
You will also be comfortable embracing new technology, as the business is introducing a new AI-powered bid-writing system to streamline the preparation of bids.
The Role
You will support the preparation of bids and tender submissions, gathering relevant information from across the business and ensuring it is accurately organised and entered into the appropriate systems.
Key responsibilities will include
- Assisting with the preparation of construction bids and tender submissions.
- Gathering relevant information from internal teams and organising it effectively.
- Using a new AI programme to input relevant information and assist with creating and structuring bid responses.
- Reviewing and refining AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, quality and consistency.
- Collating information and documentation required for individual tenders.
- Ensuring all required information is included within submissions.
- Managing bid deadlines and maintaining an organised workflow.
- Proofreading documents and checking for accuracy, grammar and consistency.
- Maintaining bid templates, company information and supporting documentation.
- Liaising with colleagues across the business to obtain the information required for each tender.
- Keeping accurate electronic records and filing systems.
- Supporting the continual improvement of the company's bid and tender processes.
About You
We are looking for someone who is exceptionally organised, methodical and detail-focused, with a strong administration background.
You will ideally have
- Strong administrative and organisational experience.
- Excellent written English and attention to detail.
- The ability to collate and organise large amounts of information.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn new systems and technology.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to obtain information from different departments.
- Construction Experience
Previous experience within construction, building, property, engineering, estimating, procurement or tendering would be highly advantageous.
However, construction experience is not essential.
The client is particularly interested in candidates with a strong administration background, excellent organisational skills and the ability to learn quickly.
Experience of bid writing or tender submissions would also be beneficial.
The AI Element
This role will involve working with a new AI-based programme designed to make the bid-writing process more efficient.
You will be responsible for adding relevant company and project information into the system, ensuring information is accurate and complete, and helping to organise and structure the content required for each bid.
You do not need previous AI experience — training will be provided — but you should be confident using technology and enthusiastic about learning new systems.
What We're Looking For
This would suit someone who enjoys working in a structured environment, has a real eye for detail and takes pride in producing accurate, professional documentation.
The successful candidate must be locally based and able to commute to the Hereford office on a daily basis, as this is a fully office-based position.
- Salary & Benefits
- Salary up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Full-time, office-based role in Hereford.
- Training provided on the company's AI bid-writing system.
- Opportunity to develop specialist experience within construction bids and tenders.
- Long-term career opportunity within an established business.
How to Apply
If you are an organised administrator looking for your next opportunity, or you already have experience in construction bids and tenders and are looking for a new challenge, we would be keen to hear from you.
