We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking main contractor operating across both the private and public sectors, with exciting and ambitious plans for continued growth. Due to a strong pipeline of major construction projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager to support and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion. This is a key role within the delivery team, offering exposure to complex, high-value projects and the opportunity to work closely with clients, consultants and internal teams.

The Role

  • Managing the design process across major construction projects
  • Coordinating internal teams and external consultants
  • Ensuring designs are compliant with building regulations, planning and employer’s requirements
  • Managing design programmes and ensuring timely issue of information
  • Identifying and managing design risk and change
  • Supporting pre-construction, tender and value engineering activities
  • Liaising with project, commercial and site teams to ensure buildability
  • Attending client and consultant meetings as required

About You

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within main contracting
  • Background delivering large or complex construction projects
  • Experience working on public and private sector schemes
  • Strong understanding of the construction design process and technical standards
  • Confident managing consultants and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant qualification in construction, architecture or engineering (preferred)
