The role & about the client

ITS Construction Professionals South are working with an established specialist construction contractor based in Woking, who are looking to appoint a Scaffold Estimator to join their commercial team.

Our client delivers scaffolding packages across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and large-scale construction projects throughout the South East. Working alongside some of the region's leading housebuilders and construction contractors, they provide specialist access solutions across developments ranging from large housing schemes and apartment blocks through to complex commercial projects.

With a strong reputation for quality, safety and reliable delivery, our client has built an established presence within the construction industry and continues to develop its project portfolio.

This is an opportunity for an Estimator with scaffolding experience who understands the technical and commercial requirements of pricing specialist access packages and wants to play an important role in securing new work.

You’ll be joining an established commercial team, working closely with operational colleagues, surveyors and senior management to ensure tenders are competitive, accurate and commercially viable.

The role would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail, understands how scaffolding packages are delivered and can bring a practical, commercially minded approach to estimating.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for scaffolding packages across residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Assessing scaffold requirements, access arrangements, elevations and project-specific constraints.
  • Producing detailed take-offs, measurements and quantities from construction drawings.
  • Calculating labour, materials, equipment, transport and associated installation costs.
  • Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations and subcontractor pricing where required.
  • Identifying commercial risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential opportunities within tender documentation.
  • Preparing tender submissions, cost breakdowns and supporting commercial information.
  • Liaising with clients, main contractors, developers and internal operational teams to clarify project requirements.
  • Working alongside Contracts Managers and site teams to understand practical delivery requirements and ensure estimates are realistic.
  • Reviewing scaffold designs, access requirements and proposed construction methodologies for commercial impact.
  • Supporting tender reviews, negotiations and commercial discussions.
  • Managing multiple tender enquiries and ensuring submissions are completed within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintaining accurate estimating records and monitoring changes in labour, material and equipment costs.
  • Supporting the commercial handover of successful tenders to the delivery team.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve estimating processes, accuracy and commercial performance.

The ideal candidate will have/be

  • Previous experience working as a Scaffold Estimator within a scaffolding contractor or specialist construction subcontractor.
  • A strong understanding of scaffolding systems, access requirements and construction site environments.
  • Experience pricing scaffolding packages for residential developments, commercial projects or large-scale construction schemes.
  • The ability to interpret construction drawings, elevations, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Experience preparing detailed take-offs, cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • A commercially aware approach, with an understanding of labour, material, equipment and project costs.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies or commercial risks.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership of estimating responsibilities.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software.
  • A relevant construction qualification would be advantageous, although practical scaffolding estimating experience is particularly important.

The opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join an established specialist contractor with a strong presence across the South East and an ongoing portfolio of residential and commercial projects.

You’ll be working on a varied range of scaffolding packages, providing exposure to different construction environments and the opportunity to develop your commercial expertise within a specialist trade.

Our client is looking for someone who can take ownership of their estimates, contribute to tender decisions and work closely with the wider team to help secure the right projects at the right price.

For an experienced Scaffold Estimator, this represents an opportunity to join a well-established business where technical knowledge, commercial judgement and attention to detail are genuinely valued.

The business has a collaborative, hands-on approach, with an emphasis on quality, teamwork and delivering projects properly.

Salary will be dependent on experience.
