Our client is a well-established construction main contractor based in Bournemouth, delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth across the South Coast, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor with a strong regional presence, offering long-term career progression and the chance to work on a diverse range of projects.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tenders for construction projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Producing accurate take-offs and pricing schedules
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
- Identifying value engineering opportunities
- Attending tender review meetings and client presentations where required
- Working closely with the pre-construction and commercial teams
- Assessing project risks and opportunities
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Supporting the business in securing profitable new work
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as an Estimator for a main contractor
- Experience pricing projects within sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare or residential
- Strong understanding of construction processes and cost planning
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- A proactive and organised approach to work
- Relevant construction qualification (preferred but not essential)
