ITP Aero is recognised as one of the world's leading aero-engine companies, supporting many of the major engine programmes operated by global aircraft manufacturers and engine OEMs.
Our 9-12 month Year in Industry Placement provides undergraduate students with broad exposure to key supply chain functions within a complex manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will contribute to real business activities and improvement projects while gaining insight into the end-to-end supply chain. The placement offers a strong foundation for future careers in supply chain management, logistics, planning, procurement, operations and business leadership, helping you develop practical skills and an understanding of how different supply chain disciplines work together to drive business success.
The placement is designed to provide exposure to the Integrated Supply Chain through a combination of structured development activities, project work and functional placements. Depending on the timing of the placement, business requirements and functional priorities, you will typically undertake one or two placements during your time with the business. Opportunities may be available within:
- Logistics
- Planning & Control
- Procurement
- External Supply Chain
During the placement, you may have the opportunity to:
- Support logistics and material flow activities across the supply chain.
- Assist with production planning, scheduling and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities.
- Support inventory management and stock control activities.
- Contribute to supplier and procurement activities, including purchasing processes and supplier performance management.
- Work alongside Production Controllers and operational teams to understand manufacturing planning and scheduling principles.
- Support customer delivery and operational performance initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement and transformation projects.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Develop an understanding of Value Stream principles and operational excellence methodologies.
- Support cross-functional collaboration between supply chain, operations, procurement and external stakeholders.
- Participate in project reviews, team meetings and business improvement activities.
- Prepare and present findings, recommendations and project outcomes to stakeholders and leadership teams.
The specific placement development pathway will be agreed at the start of the programme and will reflect both individual development objectives and business priorities at the time. This approach ensures you gain meaningful experience, ownership and responsibility within your placement area, whilst also developing an appreciation of the wider end-to-end supply chain. Through practical experience, mentoring and on-the-job learning, you will develop:

- Knowledge of logistics, procurement, planning and production control processes.
- Awareness of manufacturing operations and customer delivery requirements.

As part of the placement programme, you will also be expected to get involved in Uplift, our STEM outreach initiative, an excellent opportunity to inspire future talent, develop communication skills, and build leadership experience. Activities may include supporting coding camps, running STEM workshops, and engaging with schools and community events to promote STEM careers.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate students working towards a minimum HNC within supply chain, logistics, procurement or operations related degree, with good communications skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.

What are the working hours? Days – 37 hours per week working Monday to Friday core hours 08:00-16:12.

This is a paid placement with a salary of £24,000 for a 12-month period. You will also enjoy a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing:

Shortlisting & Initial Screening: Applications will be reviewed based on eligibility and alignment with role requirements. Interviews and Assessment: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our Hucknall site for a behavioural interview, technical interview and presentation task relevant to the role. Conditional Offers: Successful candidates will receive conditional placement offers at this stage. Final offers will only be confirmed once all pre-employment checks have been completed satisfactorily. Start date: This placement is expected to start in September/October 2026 however this is dependent on satisfactory checks.
