We’re looking for a talented journalist to join the ITV News UK Bureau, working on the biggest UK breaking stories and investigations, as well as helping to inform and drive the agenda on a daily basis. The successful candidate will work across ITV News platforms, producing reports and investigations with the UK Editor.

You will help to shape the ITV News UK agenda, and produce stories from commission to transmission, delivering the best news lines, elements and treatments for TV and digital platforms and you will conceive, develop and deliver original lines and investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tell the biggest UK stories across TV, digital and ITVX platforms
  • Produce stories from commission to transmission, delivering the best news lines, elements and treatments
  • Write and produce innovative and accurate graphics
  • Pitching and delivering coverage ideas, reflecting communities across the nations and regions
  • Confident working in the field with knowledge of relevant technology
  • Managing competing demands on multiple stories with different deadlines
  • Basic editing of material for different platforms
  • Demonstrate distinctive judgement about digital storytelling – with confidence about what elements will resonate with an online audience and what will perform on different platforms
  • Ensure stories are accurate, comply with the law and relevant regulations, and work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field
  • Write articles and work on video and audio content, ensuring maximum impact for ITV News content across multiple platforms

Key Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of the UK home affairs and political news agenda
  • Good level of contacts in politics and home affairs
  • Creative thinker with original ideas for stories and treatments across platforms and a track record of delivering exclusive journalism
  • Experience of owning a story from commission through to broadcast and publication
  • A proven ability to conduct news-making interviews
  • An understanding of news editing
  • Calm under pressure in all environments and capable of working to tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to generate engaging written copy, written under pressure
  • Confidence working across all platforms, including audio
  • Confidence to travel at short notice and operate under pressure
  • An ability to break down complex policy announcements into relatable content for a mass audience
  • Experience of AVID Newscutter, Adobe Premiere, plus other media technology
  • Work to the highest standards of spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Good knowledge of Ofcom guidelines and an understanding of legal and ethical issues journalism
  • Work in accordance with ITN Health and Safety and Compliance guidelines
