ITV News is seeking a Senior Producer to work within our award-winning Investigations and Special Projects Unit. This is a full-time, 6 month maternity cover contract based at ITN's London office. This role focuses on creating and delivering investigations and original journalism, with an emphasis on building up projects of distinction. The position collaborates with ITV News' Investigations Editor, Head of Investigations, and the wider ITV News original journalism team. The successful candidate should have experience delivering exclusive, impactful journalism with a breadth of ideas and the ability to stay ahead of the curve and break stories. A strong understanding of delivering for digital, social, and streaming platforms is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver original stories in collaboration with senior editorial leads.
- Cultivate relationships with contributors and sources.
- Organise and produce on-film shoots.
- Conceive and direct creative visual treatments.
- Work across input, output and digital platforms.
- Cover breaking news and manage multiple demands under pressure.
- Occasionally be moved off-brief to cover breaking events.
Key Requirements
- Experience of delivering exclusive stories and working on long-term investigations.
- A strong understanding of ITV News audiences across all platforms.
- Strong investigative journalism skills and ability to use a wide range of techniques, from on-location research to OSINT and data journalism.
- A good understanding of all news technologies used in the field and eagerness to embrace new technologies.
- A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain’s communities.
- High-quality news judgement and the initiative to work independently or as part of a team.
- Calm under pressure in all environments, and able to adapt to a changing situation.
- Capable of working to tight deadlines.
- A creative and innovative approach to stories and newsgathering.
- Strong background and awareness of digital and non-linear platforms and audiences.
- Understanding of the need to be flexible on working times and hours.
