ITV News is seeking an experienced Production Coordinator to join our dynamic news team. As a Production Coordinator, you will be at the heart of the ITV News’ production process, ensuring the smooth and effective coordination of all logistical aspects of news and programme production. You will work closely with editorial teams and technical teams, helping to schedule, plan, and manage resources. This role will assist the ITV News production team with the production and operational needs of daily ITV News bulletins, GMB, ITVX content, digital and long‑form programming. This role will work across ITV Network News and GMB. The role includes some overnight shifts and anti‑social hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with editorial teams, the senior production coordinator and the production manager to create, coordinate and maintain production schedules, ensuring all deadlines are met and resources are efficiently allocated.
- Coordinate the logistics for shoots, including booking crew, arranging travel and accommodation, securing locations, and ensuring all necessary equipment and resources are in place.
- Assist with all elements of a production/live where required including logistics, accreditation, recording the costs, and ensuring the production runs smoothly and stays on schedule and within budgetary pressures.
- Arrange transport and accommodation for teams on location both in the UK and overseas.
- Accreditation and visa applications – arrange accreditation for staff at locations/events and submit visa applications where applicable.
- Booking freelancers; including crew, producers, editors, graphics.
- Basic understanding of cost tracking to support the Senior Production Coordinator and Production Manager with coding of invoices for authorisation and recording daily costs for production reporting.
- Submit Albert Carbon Footprint applications and certificates.
- Reconcile expenses and credit card statements.
- Apply for filming permits and liaise with locations.
- Create call sheets where applicable.
- Create Risk Assessments where applicable.
- Understand any clearance requirements for production in line with contractual requirements, and the completion of Silvermouse paperwork.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in production coordination role, ideally within the broadcast or news industry, with a strong understanding of production processes.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- A good understanding of production processes, equipment, and broadcast systems is highly desirable.
- High attention to detail and good problem‑solving skills.
- You need to have a passion for television and in particular news and current affairs programming.
- You should have bags of initiative, common sense, be exacting in your attention to detail and always be optimistic with a can‑do attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Other Experience that would be advantageous
- Knowledge of international filming including carnets, visas, inoculations.
- Knowledge of Production and Live Production.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
