How We Work

At ITN, how we work is as important as what we do. Our values describe what you can expect when you work here — and what ITN expects of you.

Ambition – We set bold goals, take ownership, and keep learning. We look for new opportunities and better ways to make an impact.

Courage – We speak up with honesty and respect, challenge ideas constructively, and value open, direct communication.

Team – We collaborate, celebrate others’ successes, and make sure every voice is heard. We put the team’s success first.

We also recognise the importance of balance and wellbeing, so we welcome flexible working, part-time roles and job shares across all areas of ITN.

The Role

Working as part of the Good Morning Britain planning team, you’ll help shape the programme’s forward agenda, identifying the stories, guests and opportunities that will get people talking.

You’ll look ahead, develop original ideas and secure exclusive guests, case studies and access for future programmes. You’ll help keep GMB ahead of the news agenda, finding distinctive ways to bring stories to life and ensuring there’s compelling content ready for broadcast.

As well as chasing guests from the newsroom, you’ll spend time on location building contacts, and finding the people who can bring stories to life. You’ll build trust with contributors and work with them to ensure they’re well prepared and that their experiences translate into strong, engaging television.

You’ll need strong editorial judgement, excellent organisation and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving newsroom. Most of all, you’ll be curious, proactive and full of ideas, with the drive to spot an opportunity and turn it into something great for GMB

  • Support colleagues working in the field and ensure they have the information and resources required to deliver planned coverage
  • Maintain strong awareness of developing and breaking stories and adapt forward plans accordingly
  • On occasion, produce stories or live coverage on location and provide cover across other editorial roles where required

These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time.
