Description

Work as part of our 24/7 MCR team to co-ordinate and monitor all incoming and outgoing live broadcast material at our headquarters at Gray’s Inn Road.
This is an important role as part of ITN’s live operations, working closely with our studios to bring live correspondents and OB feeds for our news programming.
Key Responsibilities

  • Configure broadcast technical equipment to receive and send video content and comms.
  • Line-up guest and contributors into our news programmes
  • Ensure video specs and formats meet our standards and specifications
  • Work with our field engineers to plan and test video and comms circuits for outside productions
  • Work closely with our studios to support news for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and other news productions
  • Control our recording platform to record content for our newsroom
  • Manage and operate technologies relating to VOIP including Skype, Zoom, Quicklink etc.
  • Investigate technical faults, providing 1st and 2nd line support of issues alongside our support engineers
  • Manage and monitor data throughput and bandwidth to ensure satisfactory quality
  • Monitor the health and stability of our video and IP video infrastructure
  • Liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers over the delivery of programme and shared material
  • Offer technical guidance to editorial and non-technical colleagues as required
  • Provide accurate reporting on faults and program deliveries and follow up with testing for root cause analysis
  • Play a key role in the planning, booking and delivery of IP video and audio needed to produce ITN programming and large-scale events

  • Technical Experience:

  • Fundamental understanding of a broadcast signal chain, video & audio formats, and QC procedures
  • Experience working in live production and establishing 4wires and IFB.
  • A good understanding of encoding standards for both file based and Live video & audio
  • Practical experience with the below technologies: Sim bonding technology such as LiveUVideo calling services & sharing platforms (Skype, Facetime, Zoom, Teams, YouTube)Live audio/video encoding and streaming technologies (NDI, UDP, RTMP, SRT, J2K, 2022-7, 2110)ES67/70 Audio over IP transport systems such as Dante or LivewireBroadcast control systems such as VSM, BNCS or CerebrumIP stream analysis tools such as Wireshark/Prism/ProbesSatellite transmissions and associated RF technologies
