This role provides high-level executive support to the Channel 4 News Senior Management Team — including the Editor, Deputy Editor, Managing Editor, Operational Innovation and Technology Manager, and Finance & Operations Manager. As a trusted partner to the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in managing their day-to-day operations, supporting strategic priorities, and ensuring the smooth running of a fast-paced and dynamic newsroom. You’ll combine discretion, initiative, and exceptional organisational skills to anticipate needs and enable the senior team to focus on editorial, operational, and strategic delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive executive support across the Senior Management Team, managing both professional and occasional personal matters with discretion and tact.
- Act as the first point of contact and gatekeeper, managing calls, correspondence, and information flow with professionalism and clarity.
- Oversee complex diary management across multiple senior leaders, anticipating needs, resolving conflicts, and ensuring seamless coordination.
- Prepare and circulate agendas, briefings, and meeting papers for editorial boards, leadership meetings, and stakeholder sessions with Channel 4.
- Track and manage follow-up actions from key meetings, ensuring timely completion and accountability.
- Liaise daily with senior editorial, operational, and production leads to align priorities across departments.
- Maintain a deep understanding of newsroom operations, culture, and strategic goals to proactively support leadership decision-making.
- Attend senior meetings where required, taking minutes and managing subsequent action plans.
- Liaise effectively with cross-division stakeholders including Facilities, HR, and Health & Safety teams.
- Coordinate internal communications and support external engagements, media appearances, and speaking events in collaboration with Corporate Communications.
- Organise away days, team events, and divisional briefings, supporting a positive and connected culture.
- Manage expenses, invoices, and annual leave tracking for the Senior Management Team.
- Serve as a liaison point with ITN and Channel 4 stakeholders, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration.
- Uphold confidentiality and act with professionalism and integrity at all times.

Key Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting senior leaders, ideally within media, broadcasting, or a similarly high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple competing demands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence to Executive standard.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel), Slack, and familiarity with emerging AI tools and platforms.
- Confident, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the ability to anticipate needs and act on initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
- Discreet, composed, and professional when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Genuine interest in journalism and an understanding of newsroom dynamics and culture is highly desirable.
