The Role

To lead and manage transformative projects within the ITN News Production and Archive team, with a strong focus on implementing automation and AI‑driven solutions. This role is responsible for overseeing the optimisation of workflows, driving the adoption of new technologies, and ensuring the successful integration of advanced systems that enhance efficiency and revenue generation. The Project and Workflow Manager will coordinate cross‑functional teams and external partners, providing strategic direction and hands‑on leadership to deliver innovative change across the department.

This role sits at the intersection of a variety of different disciplines. You will work with technologists, journalists, archivists, learning and development leads, finance leads and more. The successful applicant will inherit existing projects that need nimble execution in tight timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management for ongoing work streams, including coordination with external partners to maximise revenue opportunities across the ITN Archive and syndication businesses.
  • Continuously monitor and recommend emerging workflows and automation best practices to keep the department at the front line of technological change.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption and integration of new technologies and workflow improvements across the team.
  • Support the creation, renewal and negotiation of licencing contracts by ensuring deliverables are met for new and existing partners.
  • Oversee the upgrade and replacement of internal systems, working closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants to design and implement new solutions.
  • Manage workflow improvements, integrating new technologies and processes to reduce manual effort and costs.
  • Collaborate with senior internal and external stakeholders to keep development on time and within scope.
  • Monitor project progress, report on milestones, and adapt plans as needed to meet evolving business needs.

These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong project and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with overlapping priorities.
  • Technical understanding of digital archive systems and workflows (preferred).
  • An understanding of the change management skills needed to implement greater automation across existing workflows.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Adaptability and problem‑solving mindset.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do at ITN. It’s vital that our workforce reflects the diversity of both our audience and the wider society in the UK, so we actively seek candidates from diverse backgrounds and communities. Reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process will be offered, if required, due to a disability or health condition. We also recognise the importance of a good work life balance, so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working, including part‑time and job shares for all our roles. Please just let us know in your application, or at any stage throughout the process, if this is something you want to explore.
