ITV News is looking for a Bulletin Reporter to work in one of the most dynamic newsrooms in the UK. There are two key elements to the role – reporting for ITV News outlets including GMB and ITV News bulletins, and also editing and voicing news bulletins for the ITVX & streaming platforms.
This role is 24/7 so will include some overnight and weekend work.
We require someone with a passion for covering news and a good understanding and experience of working in television We are looking for someone who also enjoys working on online platforms and has innovative ideas for how to report stories in a fresh way for digital.
Key Responsibilities
- To report for ITV News, GMB ITVX and streaming services working to a shift pattern
- To write, edit, voice and upload news bulletins to the ITVX rail working to a shift pattern
- To make decisions within a team, working to a DCE or CE, and when working overnight to independently make decisions about what to broadcast
- To self-edit packages and other video content to a high standard under time pressure, using Adobe Premiere and Avid
- To write and work on explainers and other streaming focussed content, as well as contribute the the ITV News app
- To sometimes report live for ITV News TV programmes, Good Morning Britain, ITVX and streaming service
- To sometimes produce for other reporters or content on ITV News, GMB ITVX and streaming services
- Possess the flexibility to cover breaking news, travel at short notice and enjoy a fast-paced newsroom
- Able to juggle competing demands and deliver under deadline in a calm manner
Key Requirements
- Confident and versatile news reporter with strong broadcasting skills and excellent judgement
- Be a team player and a good communicator
- Strong knowledge of Inews
- Be ambitious and agile in your approach
- Excellent understanding of how to craft and write a news bulletin with a good mix of the strongest stories of the day
- Ability to self-edit packages and other video content quickly and to a high standard
- Strong knowledge of production and newsgathering
- Able to write concisely, with clarity and imagination
- Full understanding of legal and compliance issues including the ITN compliance manual and the editorial maturity to make the right decisions when working overnight
- Proven ability to react to breaking news as and when required
- Understanding of graphics and the confidence to use them appropriately
- A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain’s communities
- Calm under pressure in all environments, and able to adapt to a changing situation and work to deadlines
- A creative and innovative approach to stories and newsgathering
- Responsible for managing a safe working environment when out in the field
- A knowledge of Ofcom guidelines
