This role provides high-level executive support to the Channel 4 News Senior Management Team — including the Editor, Deputy Editor, Managing Editor, Operational Innovation and Technology Manager, and Finance & Operations Manager.

As a trusted partner to the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in managing their day-to-day operations, supporting strategic priorities, and ensuring the smooth running of a fast-paced and dynamic newsroom. You’ll combine discretion, initiative, and exceptional organisational skills to anticipate needs and enable the senior team to focus on editorial, operational, and strategic delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive executive support across the Senior Management Team, managing both professional and occasional personal matters with discretion and tact.
  • Act as the first point of contact and gatekeeper, managing calls, correspondence, and information flow with professionalism and clarity
  • Oversee complex diary management across multiple senior leaders, anticipating needs, resolving conflicts, and ensuring seamless coordination
  • Prepare and circulate agendas, briefings, and meeting papers for editorial boards, leadership meetings, and stakeholder sessions with Channel 4
  • Track and manage follow-up actions from key meetings, ensuring timely completion and accountability
  • Liaise daily with senior editorial, operational, and production leads to align priorities across departments
  • Maintain a deep understanding of newsroom operations, culture, and strategic goals to proactively support leadership decision‑making
  • Attend senior meetings where required, taking minutes and managing subsequent action plans
  • Liaise effectively with cross‑division stakeholders including Facilities, HR, and Health & Safety teams
  • Coordinate internal communications and support external engagements, media appearances, and speaking events in collaboration with Corporate Communications
  • Organise away days, team events, and divisional briefings, supporting a positive and connected culture
  • Manage expenses, invoices, and annual leave tracking for the Senior Management Team
  • Serve as a liaison point with ITN and Channel 4 stakeholders, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration
  • Uphold confidentiality and act with professionalism and integrity at all times

These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting senior leaders, ideally within media, broadcasting, or a similarly high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment
  • Exceptional organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple competing demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence to Executive standard
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel), Slack, and familiarity with emerging AI tools and platforms
  • Confident, proactive, and solutions‑focused, with the ability to anticipate needs and act on initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels, internally and externally
  • Discreet, composed, and professional when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Genuine interest in journalism and an understanding of newsroom dynamics and culture is highly desirable
