The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

To support the production of dynamic and innovative content of the highest editorial and technical quality. This role will primarily work on all ITV News programs, platforms and in newsgathering, supporting Content Editors in delivering ITV News’ daily coverage. This role requires a journalist with sound news judgement and the ability to motivate teams in a creative and disciplined manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the social team's content editor in making key editorial judgements to provide bespoke content for ITV News Tik Tok, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.
  • Play a key role in commissioning, creating and curating vertical and short-form video.
  • Making decisions on news values, legal issues, taste and decency.
  • On occasion act up to the role of content editor and act as a leader in the social team.
  • Ensure our content reflects the diversity of our audience.
  • Ensure there is close co-operation, understanding and creative cross-promotion of all ITV platforms.
  • This role will primarily work within the social team but may be requested to work in other parts of the newsroom on planning, newsgathering, programmes, digital and streaming.

Key Requirements

  • A creative and dynamic leader with a superb understanding of the social space.
  • A good knowledge of ITV News' vertical video offering.
  • Proficient at Premier Pro and creating vertical and short‑form video.
  • Experience of filming digital content would be desirable.
  • Experience of working across multiple platforms.
  • A strong writer, with experience of writing for bulletins and digital platforms.
  • A cool and calm operator with a positive “can do” approach.
  • A good communicator with a strong ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent editorial judgement in line with the ITV News agenda with experience making difficult editorial decisions.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail when checking content for accuracy and style.
  • An eye for identifying the best use of picture and graphics.
  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of the importance of diverse contributors in news coverage.
  • Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making.
  • An understanding of personal responsibility for cross‑company cooperation within both ITN and ITV.
