This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the award winning ITV News political team from the heart of Westminster, telling stories that matter to people across the UK. ITV News is looking for someone with a real understanding of ITV audiences who can generate and produce agenda-setting political journalism. You will be expected to both package stories for ITV programmes and platforms with impactful storytelling as well as generate and break original news lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compelling packaging and storytelling for TV and digital platforms and authoritative live two-ways from Westminster and across the UK
- Pitch and pursue distinctive stories that shape the political agenda
- Conduct robust live and pre‑recorded interviews that challenge and generate news lines
- Provide sharp analysis across broadcast and digital platforms
- Drive digital‑first storytelling to reach and engage new audiences
- Operate under pressure to meet tight deadlines
Key Requirements
- Strong understanding of the ITV News agenda, with the confidence to influence it through original reporting
- Extensive knowledge of UK and global politics
- Established contacts across political parties and Whitehall
- Excellent news judgement with a track record of breaking stories and delivering original journalism
- Clear, authoritative writing style for broadcast and digital
- Strong understanding of digital storytelling and audience engagement
- Confident, authoritative on‑air presence with a strong broadcast voice
- Highly effective communicator, able to build trust quickly with sources and work collaboratively in a team
- Calm, adaptable, and decisive under pressure
