We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to support the Lead Maintenance Engineer in daily activities relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People. The successful candidate is expected to make decisions within the Maintenance department to meet the requirements of the business deliverables. Our machines are state of the art custom pieces of equipment which drive the future of production here at ITM. Engineers who are keen to learn new equipment will thrive in the environment. The Maintenance Engineers carry out the pre-planned maintenance to achieve minimum downtime; breakdowns are managed using the CMMs system and project work is also carried out within the team. No two days are the same and a positive and creative mindset is key to making positive change across all elements of SQDCP.

Responsibilities

  • Execute planned, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and safety requirements.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives, including RCM & FMEA.
  • Diagnose equipment faults, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions following the right first-time mindset.
  • Ensure equipment is operated and maintained in line with company standards, statutory regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Ensure spares are always available and within Min-Max levels and make proposals on the stock holding.
  • Uphold safe systems of work including Permit-to-Work, LOTO, working-at-height procedures.
  • Comply with statutory regulations (e.g. PUWER, LOLER).
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Champion 6S in your area and others and support and promote all aspects of continuous improvement within ITM.

About You

  • Recognised engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • IOSH Working or Managing Safely desirable.
  • Experienced time served maintenance engineer.
  • Experience in automated manufacturing or process plant maintenance.
  • Ability to read technical drawings (P&IDs, schematics, mechanical drawings).
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety and risk management.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Forklift licence (B1/B2).

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to highlight potential failures before they occur.
  • A good level of IT competence in Microsoft packages and CMMS.
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to remain flexible.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and ensure information is understood and embedded within your area.
  • Full UK driving licence.
