What are we looking for
The Manufacturing Vision Engineer is a key member of the Manufacturing Automation team responsible for the design, integration, commissioning, and optimisation of machine vision and automated inspection systems across production equipment.
The role focuses on delivering robust and reliable vision-based inspection solutions, including Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), camera systems, and DMC-based identification, ensuring consistent quality control and traceability across manufacturing processes.
Working closely with Automation Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineering, and equipment suppliers, the role ensures that vision systems are correctly integrated into manufacturing equipment and production lines. This includes defining inspection requirements, supporting system integration, and ensuring stable operation during commissioning and ramp-up phases.
A key aspect of the role is supporting the introduction of new manufacturing equipment and ensuring that all vision and inspection systems are fully integrated into production processes. The role also contributes to the standardisation of vision inspection approaches across multiple machines and production areas to ensure consistency, scalability, and reliability.
The Manufacturing Vision Engineer plays an important role in ensuring that inspection systems are stable, correctly configured, and capable of supporting production quality and traceability requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the integration and commissioning of machine vision systems, including AOI cameras and DMC-based identification systems, into manufacturing equipment and production lines.
- Define and support implementation of vision inspection requirements in collaboration with Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Automation teams.
- Work closely with Automation Engineers to ensure correct integration of vision systems into PLC-controlled equipment and production machines.
- Support installation, configuration, and commissioning of vision systems during equipment introduction and ramp-up phases.
- Develop and optimise inspection parameters to ensure stable, reliable, and repeatable defect detection performance.
- Ensure consistent implementation of vision inspection and DMC standards across multiple machines and production areas.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of vision system issues, including cameras, lighting, image processing, and system communication.
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers and machine builders to define, validate, and improve vision system performance.
- Support industrialisation activities by ensuring vision systems are correctly integrated into new manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection systems to improve quality detection capability, reliability, and production robustness.
- Ensure vision system data is correctly captured and available for downstream systems such as MES and traceability platforms.
About You
