We’re looking for a Proposals Engineer to play a key role in developing high-quality technical and commercial proposals across the group.

Working closely with the wider proposals team and cross‑functional stakeholders, you’ll help shape tailored solutions, contribute to compelling quotes, and support the tender review process. The scale and complexity of proposals will vary, offering opportunities to grow and develop your expertise as you progress in the role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys collaboration, attention to detail, and turning ideas into winning bids.

Salary: Up to £45,000, depending upon skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer requirements, whether expressed formally or informally, and prepare cost effective, technical solutions to best engineering practices in coordination with input from Engineers and others.
  • Be involved in client discussions to influence and finalise their technical requirements when appropriate.
  • Support sales staff technically during pre‑tender and post‑tender phases.
  • Prepare tenders from various source information including formal RFQ/ITT enquiries or from informal customer meeting/discussions.
  • Assist in the preparation of pre‑qualification documentation.
  • Liaise with internal Engineers, customers and suppliers, leveraging relationships across appropriate seniorities externally and internally.
  • Develop accurate estimates for engineering content, challenging other estimates when appropriate and under supervision.
  • Under supervision, participate in the tender review process with customers and attend negotiating meetings.
  • Manage and prioritise multiple concurrent tenders locally, report status of these to line manager.
  • Co‑ordinate activities with the team, reporting progress, sharing knowledge and suggesting improvements where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the sales functions generally as defined by the process definitions and RACI.
  • Support in the management of risk on behalf of ITI Group, as appropriate dependant on the complexity and scale.
  • Play a role in the bid‑no‑bid decision, as appropriate dependant on the complexity and scale.
  • Ensure that all tenders are issued within the required timeframe.
  • Under supervision, prepare tenders from pre‑qualification documentation and submit authorised technical/ commercial offerings incorporating input from internal engineers, subcontractors and suppliers where appropriate.
  • Successfully identify and complete all relevant training both in‑house and external, as required.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols.
  • Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of this role.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of networking and of Windows‑based infrastructures, including virtualisation, wide area networks and industrial information/ cyber security.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an appropriate role.
  • Good IT skills: common use Office software programs and CRM administration.
  • A Degree/HND or equivalent in a related field.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: can build relationships and leverage them appropriately.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to communicate externally and internally across multiple teams and functions.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with an understanding of how to balance multiple priorities against conflicting deadlines.

  • The ability to question assumptions, identify biases, and consider multiple perspectives, with the support of a senior colleague.
  • Ability to co‑ordinate information from multiple sources into a coherent document.

  • Being meticulous in examining information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • The ability to translate technical concepts into compelling proposals with the support of a senior colleague.
