We are looking for a Principal Ignition Engineer to join our team.
Full-time Digital Solutions: OT Team Homebased. Please note: there is a requirement to go into our office in Saltaire once every couple of weeks.
Role and Responsibilities
- Identify relevant training for self and team to ensure continuous development.
- Improve engineering standards and ensure compliance throughout all project stages.
- Act as a technical authority, providing guidance and escalation support to the Engineering team and Project Managers.
- Lead the design of complex solution architectures.
- Scope task effort and ensure delivery within agreed timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Assist the proposals team in estimating the engineering effort required for new opportunities.
- Assist Sales team on answering technical questions.
- Ensure team deliverables meet project expectations for cost, quality, and schedules.
- Create system test plans and validation activities to confirm performance meets requirements.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
- Participate in technical discussions with the project teams and assist in troubleshooting.
- Assign engineers to active projects in alignment with skills and capacity targets.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, automation engineers, Consultants, and project management, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Investigate new technologies, best practices, and quality improvements.
- Stay updated on Automation and SCADA trends.
- Flag risks related to project quality or deliverables to the Project Manager.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed and promptly escape situations where procedures are not adhered to.
- Participate in agile team activities, including maintaining planning boards and daily scrums; being ready to provide a concise and accurate status report and estimations of ongoing tasks.
- Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the post.
- Support and commissioning activities at client sites.
- Have full accountability for project timesheet authorisation, allocation and attributable project budgets.
- Be a technical and professional expert during quality and technical reviews, and can conduct reviews on peers.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols.
- Have Line management and functional responsibility for assigned team.
Summary Of Requirements
Experience and Knowledge
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field.
- Experience of OOP and Version Control.
- Database configuration and querying experience, e.g., MySQL, MS SQL.
- Experience on multiple full life cycle projects.
- Experience on creating URS, FRS, Testing Documents, User Manuals, RAMS and SDS.
- Knowledge of multiple PLC architectures and OPC Servers.
- Knowledge of Ignition (Vision or Perspective) or similar technologies.
- Experience in scripting using Python, Java or similar languages.
Skills And Abilities
- Good problem-solving skills (technical and client); experience of troubleshooting, fault finding and fixing in operational/production environments.
- Ability to make design decisions with authority and raise concerns and risks to BU director.
- A full UK driving licence or indication of working towards one.
