We're looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to lead all engineering activities across a portfolio of projects. In this senior role, you'll take full technical ownership, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, aligned to scope, and achieves the highest levels of client satisfaction. You'll lead, mentor, and develop engineers within your team, provide clear technical direction and reinforce project delivery standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the successful delivery of all allocated contracts to maximize financial return and ensure customer satisfaction and legal compliance.
- Oversee the daily activities of the project teams to ensure contracts run smoothly, achieve financial return, and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Report accurate positions on all contracts to the Engineering Manager, including potential risks and opportunities for additional work.
- Ensure the development and management of all allocated operational staff to meet the requirements of the business.
- Communicate and maintain trust relationships with staff, shareholders, clients, business partners, and authorities.
- Ensure that company policies within the Noveum Integrated Management System and legal guidelines are adhered to at all times and continually improved.
- Provide strategic advice to the Engineering Manager about market trends and the company's future.
- Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of Senior Engineers and Engineers, guiding and motivating them to drive maximum performance.
- Execute the company's business plans and strategies to achieve sustainable growth and maximize returns through customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical support to the business development, estimating, and onsite engineering teams.
- Lead the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysis of returned tenders.
- Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market and technology changes and recommend solutions that balance quality, service, and cost.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, reviewing and communicating their impact on engineering activities.
- Support the Sales team in developing product specifications and quote activities.
- Appraise and interpret client requirements to ensure that technical, legislative, and commercial aspects are delivered on each project.
- Liaise and coordinate with clients, engineering team members, and contractors on technical and commercial issues.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline (minimum 2:1).
- At least four years of hardware development experience with demonstrable leadership in a project environment and a proven track record of delivering successful systems.
- Experience in producing Functional Safety Systems for the Nuclear Industry.
- Experience operating within a regulated industry.
- MOD Security cleared.
- Pass DBS and BPSS checks.
- Be a UK National (no dual passports).
- Have lived in the UK for the last five years.
- Have no spent or current criminal convictions.
- Be prepared to work in the Nuclear Defence sector.
