About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team within an exciting Fintech Start-up client I am actively supporting. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and deliver scalable, high-quality software products that make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of software engineers through coaching, 1:1s, career development, and performance management.
- Drive delivery of complex technical projects from concept to production.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Architecture teams to define strategy, roadmap, and technical specifications.
- Champion best engineering practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
- Contribute to technical decision-making, architectural discussions, and hands-on engineering where required.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Ensure the team delivers secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
- Recruit and onboard engineering talent as the team grows.
About you
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer, or Senior Engineer ready to step into management.
- Strong technical background in modern software development (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud-native architecture).
- Exceptional people leadership and communication skills.
- Experience leading teams delivering high-quality, production-grade systems.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to create clarity, prioritise effectively, and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for mentoring engineers and building a healthy engineering culture.
Nice to have
- Experience in distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and tooling.
- Background in Agile/Scrum delivery.
