Position Overview

Ithaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of Senior Well Engineer. Reporting to the Wells Engineering Team Lead based in our Aberdeen Office.

Oversite and/or provision of Ithaca well design, planning, programming and operations management across Ithaca operated portfolio, promoting techniques and strategies that optimise asset value. Targets efforts to ensure that all wells are designed and delivered in accordance with UK statutory requirements and Ithaca policies, standards and procedures, whilst driving excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance, technological innovation and continuous performance improvement. Mentoring of Drilling Engineers, Associate Drilling Engineers. An element of NOJV supervision & reporting may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Ithaca well designs, drilling programmes and regulatory submissions in compliance with UK statutory requirements and Ithaca policies, standards and procedures.
  • Oversee, influence or conduct well planning in accordance with the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensure compliance with well examination scheme.
  • Overseen, influence or ensure detailed risk assessment (HAZOP/HAZID) conducted prior to operational execution in accordance with risk management process.
  • Review, influence or prepare scopes of work and appropriate technical specifications for procurement of equipment and services.
  • Technical lead for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist
  • Monitor and/or provide input as required into preparation of permits and applications to UK regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor and/or prepare scoping, budgetary and AFE level well cost estimates (deterministic and/or probabilistic)
  • Timely identification of long lead material and equipment to facilitate procurement
  • Monitor and measure performance against expectations. Analyse variances and capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other disciplines on well related issues.
  • Coordinate service company support to service providers performance.
  • Provide technical and operational support to well operations team during execution, as required.
  • Monitor and/or participate in risk assess and implement Management of Change (MoC) process for revisions to approved programmes/ scopes of work in accordance with Ithaca policies, standards and procedures.
  • For operated assets, review operational written instructions (after development by offshore rig management and service specialists) prior to offshore approval
  • Implementation of lessons learned system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to drilling operations.
  • Mentoring of Drilling Engineers, Associate Drilling Engineers.
  • Assist and deputise for the Superintendent, as required during operations
  • Emergency Response delegate.

Accountabilities

  • Excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
  • Application of functional specifications to influence and/or deliver optimum well designs
  • Monitoring and/or initiation of shallow hazards assessment and borehole surveys.
  • Influencing and Optimising performance where possible by appropriate application of new technology.
  • Monitoring and/or scheduling of material and personnel required to meet programme objectives.
  • Monitoring or maintenance of end of well records, lessons learned and complete well files.
  • Encourage good, open communications with contractors, promoting a culture of involvement and participation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated capacity of team supervision and analytical competence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or similar
  • Extensive experience in well engineering and site supervision.
  • IWCF Well Control Certification
