Your Role:
- As HSC Engineer you are a technical expert with exemplary communication and understanding of business processes, ensuring efficient and effective incident, problem and escalation resolution.
- You are adept at troubleshooting and fault finding, remain professional and courteous with your communication always, acting as the voice of Magnet Technology on all outward facing magnet related topics within the wider business.
- International travel will occupy 10-25% of your time, performing high-value service procedures globally.
Customer support:
- Support the global service community with all aspects related to the main magnet system within the MR imaging system.
- Report and classify incident reports to hot site status and expand to the Customer Service management group.
Problem management:
- Ensure support tickets and other internal databases are updated & maintained.
- Ability to identify potential quality related issues.
- Ability to identify, document & appropriately elevate issues to facilitate long-term problem management.
- Support the Customer Service (CS) internal departments on group and global updates, including Safety related issues, and where required create Siemens Knowledge Base (SKB) entries to document the case and its containment, corrective and preventative actions.
Incident management:
- Resolve magnet incidents through remote technical support & site visits.
- Provide support on severity & priority basis.
- Support out of hours phone support on a rotational basis.
- Complete and report the OEM submitted Site Problem Report (SPR) issues and inform quality department of update and issue closure or final solution provided.
- Being proactive identifying possible risks and site problems avoiding additional costs.
- Identify if warranty is applicable on reported site issues.
Escalation management:
- Escalate site issues to Customer Service management group.
- Ensure visibility of magnet reported incidents on high-profile magnet types.
- Increase visibility of potential magnet related issues internally with relevant stakeholders providing documented examples of the case.
- Support fleet monitoring with trend & monitoring of ongoing magnet related issues during installation and after hand-over to customer.
Project & Travel management:
- Demonstrating by example a broad view and understanding of a complete project, including travel arrangements, scheduling, regional unit communication, local customs, tooling requirements and customer system downtime impact on the business and customer experience.
- Support & advise regional units on travel scenarios and likely timeframe for work completion.
- Expected 10-25% of time will be international travel, primarily Europe, Middle East, Africa.
Your skills and experience:
- Strong technical knowledge of MR magnet systems, ideally including 4K, 10K and dry magnet technologies.
- Experience in servicing, repairing, troubleshooting and supporting complex technical systems.
- Practical knowledge of cryogen handling, leak checking, vacuum recovery and helium filling.
- Experience with cryogenic vessels, thermal cycles, cooldowns and related service procedures.
- Understanding of magnet shimming and the physics principles that support effective troubleshooting.
- Experience working with serial communication, CAN and other communication networks.
- A structured approach to incident management, problem solving and documentation.
- The confidence to assess priorities, communicate clearly and escalates issues when needed.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to coach others, share knowledge and build trusted working relationships.
- Good judgement when balancing customer needs, safety requirements, business impact and technical risk.
- A proactive approach to identifying potential issues, improving service outcomes and reducing avoidable costs.
- Willingness to travel for site support when required and to take part in rotational out-of-hours support.
- A commitment to safe working practices, compliance and continuous improvement.
