Network Automation Engineer

Itential's software portfolio focuses exclusively on multi-domain network automation and orchestration. We are looking for a Network Automation Engineer Level 1 to join our Professional Services team. In this customer-facing role, you'll follow guidance from a Network Automation Architect as you build solutions using Itential software and other industry standard automation techniques such as Ansible Playbooks and Python scripting. You'll leverage and grow your technical expertise to create and deploy Itential Platform solutions that meet clients' needs across network use cases such as switching and routing, firewalls, software upgrades, load balancers, and cloud networks. Success in this role requires strong communication skills and a proactive approach to customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Lead customer projects during their implementation of Itential software as they build automation and orchestration across their multi-domain networks.
• Engage with customers to build and implement use cases that focus on customer priorities.
• Develop automation and orchestration assets for customers using Itential software and other tools such as: Python, Ansible, Jinja2 templating, and Terraform.
• Integrate into systems such as: Infoblox, ServiceNow, AWS, NetBox, F5, Cisco, VeloCloud, VMware, and Arista.
• Continuous growth as Network Automation and Orchestration experts in Itential software and the larger network automation landscape.
• Deliver Professional Services projects in a way that enables our customers' growth and success in our tools to ensure a strong ROI.
• Collaborate with internal Itential resources helping across other projects, customer issues, product feedback, customer journey processes.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Sitting: Constantly (6-8 hours per day) for computer work and learning activities.
• Standing/Walking: Occasionally for team meetings and training sessions.
• Lifting: Occasionally lift/carry up to 25 pounds (equipment, materials).
• Vision: Constantly use close vision for computer work and documentation.
• Hearing: Frequently for customer calls, presentations, and team meetings.
• Communication: Frequently communicate with customers, internal teams, and leadership.
• Manual Dexterity: Constantly use hands/fingers for keyboard use and equipment handling.

Work Environment

• Location: Remote, United Kingdom.
• Noise Level: Typical office or home office environment.
• Travel Requirements: 50% minimum — travel across the EMEA region will be required, with onsite expectations varying quarter by quarter.
• This is a customer-facing role that requires an investment in personal, in-person relationship development.
• International travel, including occasional trips to Itential's US headquarters, should be expected.
• Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility required to accommodate customer engagement across EMEA and US time zones.
• Technology: Use of CRM tools, sales enablement platforms, and collaboration tools.

Employment Terms

• Contract Type: Full-time, permanent.
• Notice Period: As outlined in the employment contract.
• Right to Work: Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Itential is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
• Working Hours: Standard full-time hours in accordance with the employment contract, with flexibility required for international collaboration across time zones.
• Holiday Entitlement: As outlined in the employment contract, in accordance with UK statutory requirements.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, telecommunication, computer science, or a related field required.
• Experience: 3+ years in Network Automation required.
• Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in Ansible, Linux, Python scripting, Jinja2, REST APIs, JSON, SSH, Git, and Pipelines.
• Understanding of network devices and configurations across firewalls, switches, routers, cloud networks, load balancers, etc. (e.g., Palo Alto, F5, Cisco, Arista).
• Familiarity with infrastructure and change management platforms such as Infoblox, NetBox, and ServiceNow.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with clients.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and delivering automation opportunities.
• Strong organizational skills with a commitment to delivering quality solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Industry certifications in networking or automation.
• Experience: Knowledge of Terraform and cloud networking environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Hands-on experience with the Itential Platform.
• Skills & Competencies: Experience with additional automation frameworks and tools.
• Certifications/Licenses (Preferred): Cisco CCNA, Cisco DevNet Associate, AWS Cloud Practitioner.
