About Itad

We are a global consultancy united by a strong set of values and a common purpose: to help build a more equitable and sustainable world for all. We do this by providing expert monitoring, evaluation, learning and strategy services that help organisations create positive lasting social, economic and environmental change. For 40 years, we have collaborated with governments, foundations, businesses and global alliances to generate the evidence needed to understand the impact of their work and improve their performance. In all our work we are committed to equity, inclusiveness and technical excellence to meet the highest professional and ethical standards.

The Human Development Practice

The Human Development practice at Itad provides evaluation, learning and strategy services to a diverse range of clients, including bilateral governments such as FCDO, DHSC, multinational agencies such as Gavi, and philanthropic foundations such as the Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust and CIFF. We oversee a dynamic and rapidly evolving portfolio focused around eight core areas of expertise:

  • global health security and infectious diseases (GHS);
  • sexual and reproductive health & rights (SRHR);
  • health systems strengthening (HSS);
  • health research and innovation;
  • global health architecture and strategy;
  • climate and health;
  • education; and
  • water, sanitation and hygiene.

We also work in other health areas as opportunity arises, encouraging our team members to develop their own specialisms within the practice. By joining our growing team, you will work alongside a diverse and dynamic group of people who are driven by a commitment to improve the lives of people and our planet.

Examples from our growing portfolio

  • SRHR: The Challenge Initiative: evaluating Gates’ and Bayer’s programme funding local governments to implement effective, high-impact health interventions, especially for family planning, using a "business unusual" model.
  • GHS: evaluating the 23 country Flaming Fund for over nine years so far, supporting adaptive management of this flagship anti-microbial resistance surveillance programme, and we are evaluating the Tackling Deadly Diseases in Africa programme for FCDO over the next several years.
  • Global Health Initiatives: we recently evaluated COVAX, the worldwide initiative to accelerate the development and manufacture of Covid-19 vaccines for all countries, regardless of national income level.
  • Strategy: we have evaluated the Global Fund’s strategy on several occasions, supported GAVI’s strategy implementation through theories of change, and supported UNITAID and WHO in shaping their work.

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Consultant to join the team to work on projects across the human development portfolio. They will contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, build and own relationships with key client stakeholders, contribute to business development activities, share learning through knowledge products and external conferences and events, and be a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our clients. We place emphasis on individual agency and encourage an entrepreneurial approach to creating your own portfolio of work in areas of particular interest, from active sales, to bid writing through to delivery.

Technical

  • Develop innovative approaches and methodologies to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of development interventions.
  • Deliver capacity-building activities, workshops, and training sessions for project stakeholders, government officials, and local partners to strengthen their knowledge and skills in inclusive growth and climate change adaptation.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning exchanges to foster collaboration and enhance the collective impact of development efforts.
