Our client, a transportation-focused organization, is looking for an Integration & Test Engineer to own a complex EDI and systems environment end-to-end. This is a high-autonomy seat for someone who thrives working independently, can make sense of an existing technical environment quickly, and is comfortable being the sole technical resource. You'll blend hands-on EDI and systems work with modern AI-assisted development, all while staying approachable to non-technical teammates.
C2C is not an option with this job opening and all applicants should be able work for any US Employer without sponsorship. Sponsorship is not provided and this person will not need to require sponsorship in the future.
Benefits & Extras
- High autonomy and full ownership over a critical system environment
- Direct, hands-on use of modern AI-assisted development tools
- Opportunity to clean up, document, and modernize existing systems
- Broad scope spanning EDI, integrations, and production infrastructure
- Work closely with business stakeholders, not buried in a ticket queue
Compensation: $35/hour
What You'll Be Doing
- Work hands-on with EDI transactions in transportation (X12 204, 990, 214, 210), tracing activity across provider, transport, and TMS systems
- Plan and execute an integration or EDI provider cutover, including a rehearsed rollback
- Handle production Linux administration
- Read, run, and deploy existing code with little to no documentation
- Use AI tools to help build, review, and verify code
- Step in and take full ownership of a previously established technical environment
- Write documentation clear enough for another engineer to pick up and follow
- Operate independently, without a technical team to lean on
- Communicate clearly and patiently with non-technical stakeholders
What You'll Need to be Considered
- Hands-on EDI experience in transportation (X12 204, 990, 214, 210)
- Experience leading an integration or EDI provider cutover with a rehearsed rollback plan
- Ability to read, run, and deploy someone else's undocumented code
- Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude preferred)
