About IT4Automation
IT4Automation provides specialist project, NOC and SOC services for Operational Technology environments, with a focus on Critical National Infrastructure.
We work with organisations where reliability, security and operational continuity really matter. Our team supports industrial networks, infrastructure and cyber monitoring services across environments where downtime and poor change control can have significant real-world impact.
We are a small, capable and growing business with a strong engineering culture. Our team works closely together, supports one another and takes pride in delivering high-quality work for customers in complex operational environments.
The Role
We are looking for an OT Network & Infrastructure Engineer to join our engineering team.

- OT network and infrastructure project delivery
- NOC / SOC service desk support
- Customer site work
- Monitoring and incident response
- Internal systems improvement
- Technical documentation and change control
You will work alongside experienced engineers across external projects, managed service operations and internal improvement initiatives.
This role would suit someone with a 2-5 year background in network engineering, infrastructure support, cyber operations or industrial systems who is looking to develop within the specialist field of Operational Technology.
OT experience is useful, but not essential. The right attitude, technical curiosity and willingness to learn are just as important.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the design, implementation and maintenance of OT network infrastructure.
- Working with switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs and associated infrastructure.
- Supporting NOC / SOC service desk operations.
- Monitoring alerts, incidents, tickets and service requests.
- Troubleshooting network, infrastructure and security-related issues.
- Supporting customer projects from preparation through to delivery and handover.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, diagrams and configuration records.
- Assisting with monitoring, logging, backup and resilience improvements.
- Supporting secure remote access, segmentation and cyber security improvements.
- Working on customer sites where required.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes, tooling and standards.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, reliable and keen to grow with the business.
You do not need to know everything from day one, but you should have strong fundamentals and a genuine interest in networks, infrastructure, cyber security and operational technology.
You are likely to have experience in some of the following areas:
- Network engineering or infrastructure support
- Switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls and VPNs
- TCP/IP troubleshooting
- Windows and/or Linux server environments
- Virtualisation platforms
- Monitoring, logging or alerting tools
- Service desk, NOC or SOC environments
- Cyber security fundamentals
- Customer-facing technical support
- Technical documentation and change control
Experience with industrial, manufacturing, utilities, energy, transport, water or other OT environments would be beneficial.
Useful Technologies & Knowledge
Experience with any of the following would be useful:
- Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, Hirschmann, Moxa or similar
- Microsoft Windows Server / Active Directory
- Linux administration
- VMware or Hyper-V
- SIEM, log management or monitoring platforms
- PowerShell, Python or Bash scripting
- Backup and disaster recovery technologies
- Industrial networks, SCADA, PLCs, DCS or telemetry systems
- IEC 62443, NIST CSF, ISO 27001 or similar cyber security frameworks
- ITIL or service management processes
What Kind of Person Fits Well Here?
We have a strong team culture, so fit is important.
You will probably enjoy this role if you are:
- Calm and reliable under pressure
- Methodical and detail-conscious
- Curious and keen to learn
- Comfortable working as part of a close-knit team
- Willing to ask questions and share knowledge
- Professional with customers
- Security-minded
- Good at following process and documenting your work
- Interested in critical infrastructure and operational technology
- Happy working across both projects and support services
We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things properly and wants to develop within a specialist technical environment.
What We Offer
- A chance to work in the growing field of Operational Technology and cyber security
- Exposure to Critical National Infrastructure environments
- Varied work across projects, NOC, SOC and internal systems
- Support from an experienced and collaborative engineering team
- Opportunities for technical development and certification
- A strong team culture where people support each other
- The ability to make a real impact in a growing business
Why Join IT4Automation?

You will be part of a team that works on meaningful projects in environments where engineering quality, reliability and security genuinely matter.
If you enjoy solving technical problems, working with good people and building your skills in OT networks, infrastructure and cyber security, we would like to hear from you.
