Scope of services:

Seeking an Infrastructure engineer with exposure to F5 Networking services. The Study Engineer sits at the front end of delivery. Their job is to take a customer or programme requirement and turn it into a clear, build-ready technical solution for the Delivery and Service teams.

The Study Engineer is responsible for the technical discovery and design that happens before build and implementation. Understand application, traffic, security, and resilience requirements. Determine whether an existing F5 pattern can be used or whether a bespoke design is required.

Produce design and handover artefacts: A key output of the Study Engineer is documentation that enables delivery without ambiguity.

  • Approved F5 pattern selection or design alignment
  • Completed Study → Delivery handover details (VIPs, SSL, persistence, policies, routing, etc.)
  • Identification of risks, assumptions, and dependencies before build

This ensures Delivery engineers can execute without rework or clarification loops:

  • Bridges architecture, security, and delivery
  • Study Engineers act as a technical translator across teams
  • Align solutions with security and governance expectations
  • Ensure designs are compatible with the current F5 estate and tooling
  • Validate that what’s being requested is achievable within platform standards

Needs strong F5 & networking expertise: Although they may not always build configurations themselves, Study Engineers need deep technical understanding to design effectively.

  • F5 BIG-IP modules (LTM, DNS/GTM, APM, AWAF)
  • SSL/TLS, traffic management, persistence, health monitoring
  • Network fundamentals (routing, firewalls, segmentation)
  • Automation and tooling awareness (e.g. AppViewX, AS3/DO)
