The IFS Solution Architect is responsible for translating business strategy and requirements into effective, scalable IFS solutions. This role ensures that functional designs align with business outcomes while fitting within the wider enterprise architecture, technical standards, and delivery approach.
The Solution Architect acts as the bridge between business stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical architects to ensure that IFS is implemented in a way that is both fit for purpose and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution design across IFS modules and business processes.
- Translate business needs into functional and solution architectures.
- Define solution blueprints, process models, and capability maps for IFS.
- Ensure designs support standardisation, scalability, and long-term value.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with senior business stakeholders to understand strategic priorities.
- Lead solution workshops and design sessions.
- Act as a trusted advisor on how IFS can best support business transformation.
- Support change management by clearly articulating the “why” behind solution decisions.
Governance & Design Authority
- Ensure solution designs align with enterprise architecture principles.
- Balance business needs with system constraints and best practice.
- Review and approve functional designs from delivery teams and partners.
- Ensure solutions minimise customisation and maximise use of standard IFS capabilities.
Delivery & Programme Support
- Work closely with programme managers, product owners, and delivery leads.
- Provide architectural input across all phases: discovery, design, build, test, and deploy.
- Support partners and internal teams with clear solution direction.
- Manage design risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
- Contribute to the IFS roadmap and future-state vision.
- Identify opportunities to optimise business processes through IFS.
- Drive adoption of new IFS capabilities and features.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Functional Architect, or Lead Consultant on ERP programmes.
- Strong functional knowledge of IFS Applications or IFS Cloud, ideally across multiple modules such as:
- Finance
- Supply Chain
- Manufacturing
- Service Management
- Projects
- Asset Management
- Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes in at least one complex industry (e.g., manufacturing, utilities, engineering, construction, aerospace & defence).
- Experience shaping solutions in large-scale ERP implementations or transformations.
- Ability to translate business strategy into practical, deliverable solutions.
- Experience with:
- IFS Cloud implementations or migrations
- Business process re-engineering
- Agile / SAFe / hybrid delivery models
- IFS certification (e.g., IFS Business Consultant, IFS Solution Architect).
- Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments.
