Senior IT Technician required by my midlands client.
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior IT Technician to take ownership of the IT environment across multiple UK sites, supporting approximately 120 users.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, vendor management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the Group's IT infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments.
- Ensure high availability, performance, resilience, and security of all IT systems.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives including MFA, endpoint protection, patching, and vulnerability management.
- Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Exchange Online, and Windows Server environments.
- Oversee networking infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and site connectivity.
- Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support and act as the senior escalation point for infrastructure issues.
- Manage third-party IT suppliers, licensing, contracts, and hardware procurement.
- Deliver infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and network refresh programmes.
- Support ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing technology integrations.
- Develop IT documentation, policies, asset management, and governance controls.
- Communicate technical risks and investment requirements to senior leadership in a clear, commercial manner.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in hands-on IT infrastructure roles.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and cybersecurity.
- Experience managing backup and disaster recovery solutions and virtualisation platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Proven track record delivering IT infrastructure and transformation projects.
- Knowledge of Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, and security best practices.
- Experience with ERP/MRP environments is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications such as Comp TIA Network+, Security+, or ITIL Foundation are desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between UK sites.
