Lead Senior Software Engineer
Location: Northampton
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000
We\’re looking for a Lead Senior Software Engineer to take a central role in shaping, guiding, and delivering our internal and customer-facing software systems. You\’ll lead a team of developers working on a range of platforms from E-commerce systems to internal tooling and integrations while helping refine our development processes and architecture.
This role combines technical leadership with hands‑on development. You\’ll need strong experience with modern .NET technologies and cloud platforms, alongside the ability to mentor developers, work across departments, and help drive projects forward.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a small team of developers, supporting their growth and performance
- Guide the architecture and development of systems in .NET (C#)
- Work across legacy and modern codebases
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to align technical work with business goals
- Implement and maintain systems using SQL, APIs, RabbitMQ, Redis, and cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS)
- Help shape and refine our CI/CD pipelines and coding standards
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in C#/.NET Core
- Experience leading or mentoring developers
- Solid understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL, MSSQL or similar)
- Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ and caching tools like Redis
- Familiarity with cloud platforms – Azure preferred, AWS also welcome
- Experience working with multiple systems and integrating across platforms
- Confidence working with source control (Git), modern DevOps practices, and deployment pipelines
