A respected, niche medium-sized law firm in the City of London is looking for a Senior IT Engineer to join their close-knit internal technology team. Working onsite as one of two engineers, you’ll take a senior role delivering everything from hands-on 1st line fixes to complex 3rd line troubleshooting and firm-wide IT projects.
This is a rare opportunity to become the technical backbone of a professional, high-performing legal environment where reliability, discretion, and quality of service truly matter.
The Role
You’ll be the senior technical presence onsite, supporting users across the firm’s London office and remote workforce. The work is varied and hands-on: escalations, systems administration, project delivery, and day-to-day support that keeps the firm running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1st–3rd line support across desktops, applications, mobile devices, and core infrastructure
- Act as the senior escalation point within a two-person IT team
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, and legal-sector applications
- Lead and contribute to IT projects including upgrades, migrations, and system improvements
- Ensure high-quality service delivery to partners, fee-earners, and business services teams
- Maintain documentation, security standards, and best practice across the environment
- Work closely with external vendors and service providers where required
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience in a senior IT support role, ideally within professional services
- Confident handling 3rd line issues across Microsoft 365, AD, Windows Server, networking, and security
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and communicate with stakeholders at all levels
- A calm, solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail
- Experience supporting legal applications (e.g., case management, DMS) is beneficial but not essential
Why This Role Stands Out
- A senior, trusted position with real ownership and influence
- A stable, well-respected law firm with a collaborative culture
- Broad technical exposure across support and projects
- Direct interaction with partners and decision-makers
- A role where your expertise genuinely shapes the firm’s technology experience
If you’re a capable Senior IT Engineer who enjoys variety, responsibility, and working closely with users in a professional environment, this role offers the autonomy and impact you’re looking for.
