About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Field Operations Manager to lead and deliver UAV field operations across a wide range of applications. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing operational delivery in the field, including demonstrations, training, technical support, and system trials. You will oversee a team of pilots and technicians while ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The role requires a proactive, organised individual with strong technical awareness and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, real-world environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Project Delivery
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute field operations including system demonstrations, customer deployments, field service, maintenance, and repairs, and research and development trials.
    • Develop operational plans considering airspace restrictions, regulatory requirements, and client needs.
    • Coordinate approvals and logistics to ensure successful delivery of field activities.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of UAV pilots and technical specialists.
    • Promote a strong culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure all team members are trained and competent in both operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Customer Engagement & Support
    • Act as the primary point of contact for customers requiring service and maintenance, operational support, and technical guidance.
    • Manage inbound and outbound enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
  • Training & Capability Development
    • Coordinate and deliver training for internal personnel and external customers.
    • Ensure all operators meet required competency and compliance standards.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Maintain strict adherence to UAV regulations and operational safety standards.
    • Implement and enforce company procedures and best practices across all field activities.
    • Manage risk and incident response in operational environments.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in operations management, field service, or project delivery.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Technical / Industry Background

  • Experience in aviation, UAV/drone operations, or technical field services.
  • Understanding of flight operations, safety, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Background in engineering (mechanical, electronic, or software) or technical systems.

Desirable

  • UAV piloting experience and/or relevant certification (e.g. GVC or equivalent).
  • Experience with drone systems and payloads, field-based testing or deployments, and international operations.
  • Knowledge of drone regulations and compliance.
