My client is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Back End service layer for a major iOS and Android travel application.
Remit
Lead delivery of the mobile application service layer supporting iOS and Android platforms
Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and drive engineering best practices
Own architecture, design, development and deployment of scalable Back End services
Lead technical governance across development teams, vendors and stakeholders
Drive CI/CD, automation and cloud-native engineering practices
Establish code review, release management and engineering quality standards
Mentor engineers and lead team growth, performance and technical maturity
Support hiring and development of engineering talent
Skills
10+ years software engineering experience
2+ years leadership experience managing engineering teams
Strong hands-on Java 17+ or Kotlin development experience
Strong Spring Boot and microservices architecture experience
Experience with Gradle build automation
Experience with GitHub Actions and/or CircleCI
Strong cloud platform experience
Expertise in observability, monitoring and alerting tools such as Sentry
Swift (iOS) experience essential
Android Kotlin experience essential
Agile delivery experience (Scrum/Kanban)
Desirable
Enterprise-scale application development experience
Travel, loyalty or customer-facing product experience
Automated testing and performance testing experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
