Job Role
We are seeking an experienced Pentaho / Denodo Developer to support the delivery of a complex data and analytics solution within a secure UK public sector environment.The role will focus on building and maintaining data integration, transformation and access processes across a multi-technology data platform. Strong experience with Pentaho, Denodo, SQL and relational databases is highly desirable.Due to the nature of the engagement, candidates must hold active UK Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain ETL and data integration pipelines.
- Develop Pentaho jobs and transformations to ingest, cleanse, transform and move data between source and target systems.
- Develop and maintain Denodo data virtualisation components and data access layers.
- Integrate data from multiple internal and external source systems.
- Work with Oracle and other relational databases to query, transform and persist data.
- Develop and maintain SQL used within data processing and integration workflows.
- Support scheduled and batch processing using Cron and other orchestration technologies.
- Work closely with SAS and data engineering teams to integrate upstream and downstream processing.
- Translate data and technical requirements into robust integration solutions.
- Analyse source data structures and support data mapping and transformation design.
- Implement appropriate data quality checks and error-handling processes.
- Troubleshoot data integration, performance and processing issues.
- Support testing, defect resolution and deployment activities.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering data flows, transformation logic and operational processes.
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge transfer across the delivery team.
Key Requirements
- Active UK Security Clearance.
- Proven hands-on experience developing data integration or ETL solutions.
- Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle.
- Experience designing and developing complex data transformations.
- Good understanding of data integration, data quality and data management principles.
- Experience working with large or complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand technical and data requirements and translate them into working solutions.
- Experience working within structured software or data delivery projects.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn adjacent technologies where required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data virtualisation concepts and technologies.
- Experience delivering data and analytics solutions within UK Government.
- Experience with Cron or other scheduling technologies.
- Experience with Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Experience with SAS or SAS Viya.
- Experience integrating Pentaho with SAS-based processing.
- Oracle performance tuning or advanced SQL experience.
- Experience with fraud, compliance, risk or rules-based decisioning solutions.
- Experience with Git and modern source-control / CI/CD practices.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
