iST Power is looking for an organised and dependable Finance Assistant to play a key role in keeping our finance and administration processes running smoothly. This is a varied, hands-on position supporting a broad range of finance activities, with occasional support for purchasing, ledger processes and general office management duties as required. It would suit someone who enjoys detail, takes pride in getting things right, and wants to contribute to a busy manufacturing business where accurate information matters every day.
Role Overview
Working closely with the Finance Manager and colleagues across the business, you will help keep financial and business records accurate, complete and processed on time. You will be trusted to follow established procedures, spot gaps or inconsistencies, and work with the relevant departments to resolve issues before they cause delays. The role would suit someone who is confident with numbers, independent in their approach and comfortable balancing routine deadlines with day-to-day queries and ad hoc office requirements.
You will handle confidential supplier, customer, employee and financial information, so discretion, accuracy and a professional approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation of management accounts, month-end activities and supporting financial information.
Preparing and maintaining import, export and inward-processing documentation, including records required for VAT purposes.
Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns and maintaining accurate supporting records.
Preparing supplier payment runs, processing authorised ad hoc payments and managing escalated supplier queries.
Completing bank reconciliations and supporting year-end audit requirements.
Managing petty cash and providing support or cover for purchase ledger, sales ledger, invoicing, expenses and other routine finance activities as required.
Maintaining accurate records across finance and business systems, investigating discrepancies and responding to internal and external queries.
Supporting the introduction and continuous improvement of finance systems, controls and working practices.
Undertaking ad hoc general office management duties to support the smooth day-to-day running of the Leicester office.
Providing general finance and administrative support as required, while following company procedures, approval limits and data-protection requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate should have:
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role, with practical exposure to a range of transactional and administrative finance activities. Applications will also be considered from candidates with transferable experience and the ability to develop in the role.
Experience using finance, accounting or business systems to maintain accurate records and process transactions.
Good numerical ability, attention to detail and confidence identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Competence in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other common business applications.
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet routine deadlines and work effectively with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Willingness to undertake varied ad hoc office management and administrative duties when required.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, trustworthy and discreet approach.
Right to work in the UK and ability to work five days a week from our Leicester office.
Relevant Qualifications
Relevant qualifications are desirable but are not essential for the right candidate. These may include:
AAT qualification, or current study towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent accounting qualification.
A relevant bookkeeping, finance, accounting or business administration qualification.
Relevant vocational training or demonstrable practical experience in a finance or accounts environment.
The following would be advantageous:
Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or project-based environment.
Broader exposure to reconciliations, management accounts, VAT, payment processing or audit support.
Experience with an ERP or accounting platform and an interest in improving finance systems and processes.
Experience supporting general office administration or office management activities.

Hands-on experience across wider finance administration, with opportunities to support other finance processes and office activities when required.
