As a CAD Technician at our Manchester facility, you will play a key role in supporting our engineering and manufacturing teams by producing high-quality 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings. Your work will help develop our product designs, improve manufacturability, and contribute to innovation across our transformer and power-system technologies. This role is highly interactive, offering hands-on experience in mechanical detailing, design development, and production support within a high-voltage engineering environment. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong practical CAD skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating efficient, well-engineered design solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Produce accurate 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings for transformer tanks, cooling systems, structural components, and sheet-metal assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Work closely with shop-floor teams, assist with drawing queries, and help troubleshoot design-related challenges as parts move into production.
  • Work alongside experienced mechanical and electrical engineers, contributing to integrated engineering solutions on high-profile customer and development projects.
  • Gain exposure to transformer construction principles, mechanical design standards, and quality processes while expanding your CAD and detailing expertise.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping refine design practices, enhance manufacturability, and support cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and update 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings for transformer tanks, cooling systems, sheet-metal parts, and structural assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare accurate manufacturing drawings, ensuring clarity, manufacturability, and compliance with internal, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support manufacturing and fabrication teams by resolving drawing queries and contributing to process improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing input to help maintain high quality standards and support the delivery of first-class engineered products.
  • Work closely with electrical and project engineers to ensure mechanical designs integrate effectively within complete transformer and power-system assemblies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement.
