We are looking for a candidate who will act as a trusted payroll partner, working collaboratively across teams to enhance ways of working and ensure sustainable, practical improvements within BAU payroll operations. The role will also play a key part in bridging transformation initiatives with operational delivery to ensure successful implementation and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Payroll Delivery teams to review and continuously improve BAU payroll processes while maintaining Delivery ownership.
  • Collaborate with Payroll Service teams to analyse trends, queries, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development of efficient and accurate payroll processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Translate operational insights into practical and sustainable enhancements within payroll delivery processes.
  • Partner with Delivery teams to create and maintain payroll process documentation aligned to policy, legislation, and company standards.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by implementing process improvements based on assurance findings and control feedback.
  • Facilitate the embedding of transformation and project outcomes into BAU payroll operations, ensuring knowledge transfer and readiness.
  • Act as a Payroll SME on transformation initiatives, supporting design, testing, and implementation to ensure solutions are operationally viable.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • End-to-end payroll processing experience within a complex, high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, tax, statutory payments, pensions, and controls.
  • Experience supporting payroll delivery teams to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service levels.
  • Experience contributing to or leading payroll transformation programmes.
  • Previous experience acting as an SME during system implementations, upgrades, migrations, or outsourcing projects.
  • Experience producing and maintaining SOPs, process maps, work instructions, and governance documentation.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across Payroll, HR, Compliance, Training, and Transformation teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
