Reporting to the Non-Containment Supervisor, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical and building services across client properties. The role covers proactive and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installations, ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining world-class service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
- Diagnose faults, replace defective components, and ensure equipment is calibrated and operating correctly.
- Test and commission systems using appropriate tools and methods to ensure optimal performance.
- Plan and prioritise work effectively, selecting suitable techniques, materials, and resources.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, materials, and time estimates.
- Coordinate with clients, managers, and contractors, including issuing permits and overseeing contractor activities.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH.
- Build strong working relationships, providing technical support and driving continuous service improvement.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds 1788 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven ability to apply technical knowledge to maintain reliable mechanical systems.
- Demonstrable success in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical building services.
- Experience delivering both reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
- Previous experience within FM or building services in commercial properties.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe systems of work.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational awareness, resilience, and ability to manage workloads effectively.
- Full UK driving licence required.
