As a Maintenance Engineer, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and associated building services systems. You will work within laboratories, offices and staff areas, responding to faults, completing inspections and supporting improvement works. The role involves close collaboration with site teams, contractors and the client to maintain service standards and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs using drawings and manuals
- Support electrical and fabric maintenance tasks where required
- Complete inspections, testing and calibration of equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times
- Maintain accurate records and complete work documentation
- Manage materials, tools and maintenance costs effectively
- Liaise with clients, managers and site teams professionally
- Oversee contractors and issue permits to work when required
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Mechanical engineering qualification such as NVQ or City & Guilds
- Experience in building services or facilities maintenance environments
- Ability to complete PPM and reactive maintenance tasks
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
- Clear communication with colleagues and clients
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to support on-call duties when required
