We are looking for a Shift Lead who will act as the primary point of contact during their shift, ensuring operational continuity, effective supervision of technicians, and full compliance across mechanical and water hygiene systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and organisational skills to ensure engineering operations meet SLA, KPI, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the engineering shift team, ensuring safe working practices and operational continuity.
- Ensure all engineering and water compliance tasks are completed to required standards.
- Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with agreed schedules to maximise plant reliability, efficiency, and lifespan.
- Undertake reactive maintenance and fault response activities to minimise disruption to business operations.
- Carry out fault finding, diagnosis, and repair across HVAC and associated mechanical systems.
- Manage water compliance activities, including audits, remedial works, reporting, and statutory requirements.
- Supervise and liaise with specialist subcontractors, ensuring works are completed safely, compliantly, and to quality standards.
- Produce clear and accurate technical reports relating to maintenance activities, plant condition, and incidents.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven experience within a mechanical or building services engineering environment.
- Experience leading or supervising engineering teams or shift technicians.
- Strong understanding of water hygiene and water compliance regulations.
- Knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG274, and water treatment compliance requirements.
- Experience managing PPM schedules and compliance documentation.
- Good understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using CAFM systems and compliance reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within a critical environment.
